Modularization of the IMAS Positioning System

Modularization helps to react to different market requirements flexibly and efficiently. For this reason, in the Value Stream Industrial & Engineered Systems (IES), we have modularized the new generation of Integrated Multi Axes Systems (IMAS) as one of our first strategic products. We used special methodical approaches for systems to modularize the new generation of IMAS.

The IMAS is a positioning system with up to four degrees of freedom that is based on standard products, is suitable for laser-based applications, and also allows further accessories to be integrated. In the Value Stream IES, the new generation of IMAS is currently still in the product development stage and is not yet ready for the market. However, it will replace the current generation of IMAS in the foreseeable future.

Modularizing the IMAS increases efficiency in almost all company divisions. For example, modularized products are the basic requirement for sales configurators. These configurators are used to quickly and reliably create a quotation with all the necessary specifications. Established and flexible modules minimize product development times and functional errors. Reoccurring components not only reduce component and procurement costs, but also enable strategic procurement concepts and lean production processes.
