Groundbreaking Ceremony at Breisgau Gewerbepark
At the end of April 2023, PI started the expansion of the Eschbach site at the Gewerbepark Breisgau (industrial park) with a symbolic turn of the sod. Over the next year, we will gain approx. 6,000 sqm additional production, laboratory, and office spaces as well as clean rooms. This will more than double the operating area and PI will create up to 150 additional future-proof jobs in the region.
With currently around 135 employees, the Eschbach site at the Breisgau industrial park is our competence center for linear axes, rotary tables, and system solutions for high-precision motion and positioning tasks. The systems include mechanics, drive technology, and control devices with software. With the combination of more space, hiring new employees, and the introduction of Industry 4,0 principles for more flexibility and higher throughput, we aim to triple capacity at the plant in Eschbach.
In recent years, global demand for our components and systems has grown strongly. We expect further sturdy growth due to mega trends such as digitalization or health. With this new building here at the Gewerbepark Breisgau and investments of around 16 million euro, we are preparing for the developments ahead.
For Markus Riesterer, Association Director and General Manager Breisgau Business Park, the investment in high-tech jobs is another lighthouse project:
The PI Group is another market and technology leader which is clearly committed to the Gewerbepark Breisgau. Due to the new workplaces which will be created, PI will become one of the largest employers with appealing and future-proof jobs here at the industrial park. We are particularly looking forward to another architecturally appealing building for the Gewerbepark. This can be seen in the already existing PI buildings including its high-quality designed outdoor areas.
Solar Power and District Heating for Environmentally Friendly Energy Consumption
A photovoltaic system on the roof of the new building will create renewable energy and thus contribute to the transformation of energy systems towards sustainability. Additionally, the plant in Eschbach will switch to environmentally friendly district heating. Together with the use of sustainable building materials and insulation, this fulfills the highest environmental requirements.
