On today’s World Quantum Day, we’d like to show how milestones in photonics are paving the way for modern quantum technology: In particular, photons can form the basis of certain types of qubits. In trapped-ion quantum computing, photons are used to immobilize, cool, and transfer qubits. Besides that, photons provide an adiabatic way to transfer information into and out of cryostats.
We are delighted that PI’s systems for nanopositioning as well as photonic alignment and tracking are playing an important role in quantum applications.
