Convincing Trade Fair Appearance of PI China
LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA 2023 was the first global event to be held in China since the COVID-19 pandemic. The trade fair covered an exhibition area of more than 80,000 sqm and attracted a broad, international audience, with more than 1,160 exhibitors highlighting the innovative, rapid growth in the Chinese photonics market.
For its stand, PI adopted the DRIVING INNOVATION campaign, which was recently launched at LASER World of PHOTONICS 2023 in Munich, Germany. With its new look, PI demonstrated its claim and commitment to innovation. The stand featured a flexible area for holding presentations or discussions with exhibits covering applications in industries such as photonics, laser processing, and optical fiber alignment, as well as motion simulation for testing image stabilization.
As part of the DRIVING INNOVATION campaign, Mathias Winter, Director Technology Center - Piezo Drives & Systems - Global, was invited to speak about “Active Damping” and “Surface Shaping”. Both topics highlight PI’s activities to overcome the limitation of state-of-the-art technology and enable the next level of precision for the application of our customers. The presentations were given in four sessions spread over two days, each time attracting a large audience.
After his presentations, Mathias Winter was very happy to answer in-depth questions from the audience or to discuss future applications with customers.
PI China gained a total of 317 leads at this exhibition, which is an unprecedented performance.
PI Attracts Media Attention
Moreover, three media representatives attended the exhibition: Oriental Finance Channel, CCTV, and LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA, who conducted interviews with executive management from PI.
Oriental Finance Channel interviewed Chris Hong, Head of Country - China, asking him about the application of motion simulation in testing image stabilization. Watch the interview here.
CCTV interviewed Stephane Bussa, Chief Sales Officer, and Hsin Chia, Sales Director APAC and Country Director, South APAC. PI was chosen by CCTV because the company has been continuously improving its motion positioning accuracy for more than 50 years.
This requires the continuous accumulation of experience and innovation, demonstrating PI's persistent pursuit of technological leadership.
This year, the LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA has a whole new meaning for PI. The PI China team was extremely excited to participate in the show that presented PI’s full range of products, tailored to the specific needs of the Chinese market. Given the amount of preparation that our Chinese team put into making the show a great success, the number of leads generated broke all previous records. The customers who visited us were extremely impressed, and we are confident that PI will benefit from our level of engagement during the show for many years to come. We are extremely proud of each and every member of the PI China team that helped make this show a great success.

This was an amazing exhibition and showed how the laser processing industry serves a wide range of customers, with the whole optoelectronic industrial chain providing comprehensive solutions. We were able to share the latest technical achievements, exchange experiences, and listen to our customers’ needs, as well as give feedback through the trade show.
A great week in China has ended. It was fantastic to finally spend some quality time face-to-face with our fantastic PI and ACS Motion Control teams. Stephane Bussa and I will leave here with many new impressions. Additionally, visiting many of our valued customers, our offices and factory, and the LASER World of PHOTONICS in Shanghai, has strengthened our commitment to serving our regional customers even closer.
