At the beginning of June 2023, the PI Ceramic Multilayer Actuator (PICMA) status meeting took place for the first time after a three year break. The meeting was attended by representatives from PI DPG, the Global Research & Platforms (GRP) division, and PI Ceramic.
The meeting was particularly geared towards current and future development and technology projects. PI Ceramic was represented by Central Development and the Multilayer product division. On the part of GRP and PI DPG, the Technology Center Piezo Drives & Systems, as well as the Value Streams Piezo Systems, Piezo Motors, and Motorized Positioners participated.
The following key points were addressed:
- PI Ceramic: Single foil technology as a future investment, high strain, via contacting, presentation of cymbal actuators, lead-free actuators
- PI DPG and GRP: Condition monitoring, technology roadmap with reference to multilayer (ML), new piezo motor concepts with ML actuators
All participants found the exchange of ideas useful and beneficial, and the status meeting will be continued at four-monthly intervals. In mid-October 2023, the next meeting will take place in Lederhose, Thuringia.
