Investment of €200K in Tech Center Division
The screen printer ‚Ekra 5‘, type XH STS, of the manufacturer Asys was successfully put into operation at the PI Ceramic Tech Center division. The XH STS screen and stencil printing system was specially developed for printing on substrates in the thick film range. The automatic offline printing system is particularly suitable for thick film printing of small batches as well as small to medium production volumes for which maximum precision and short setup times are required.
Pre-acceptance of the screen printer was carried out by Tobias Franz and Markus Stephan, Development Engineering, at Asys in early February 2023, and final acceptance took place in mid-March.
Using this printing system, we will be able to:
- improve quality by automatic alignment of the ceramic under the screen by means of a camera.
- reduce the error rate by performing a setup verification of all required tools including the required paste.
- reduce the setup costs.
- increase the production capacity.
The special technical features of the system include the following:
- Printing material thickness of up to 50mm
- Printing area of 300x300mm
- Repeatability ±12.5µm @6Sigma
- Camera viewing window 12x9mm at 12µm/pixel
- Ergonomics: height adjustment via scissors lift
- Identical in design to ‚Ekra 4‘ in the Piezo Component product division, minor technical enhancements
