Karlsruhe Apprentices Learn About PI Ceramic Manufacturing Processes
Mid-July 2023, eleven third year apprentices from Karlsruhe, as well as the four instructors Sarah Hurst, Ingo Rastetter, Miriam Clauss, and Darius Zolk, visited PI Ceramic in Lederhose to get to know the PI site there.
After the greeting from Jan Oberröder, Head of Apprenticeship Industrial – PIC, and a joint lunch, the elementary processes and the structure of PI Ceramic were explained to the apprentices during a guided tour of the company. Finally, there was a presentation of the manufacturing of selected products from the Materials, Piezo Components, Modules, and Multilayer divisions.
Following this, the apprentices were given the task of creating a presentation about the manufacturing processes. The PI Ceramic apprentices Angelina Stüber, Selina Bonk, Simon Funke, and Christoph Schütz, supported them with this.
In the afternoon, as a cultural highlight, there was a visit to the caves in Gera (Geraer Höhler). This is an artificially created system of deep cellars which were formerly used to store beer. Following this visit, the day ended with a visit to an Italian restaurant.
The apprentices used the following day to complete their presentations and to try their hand at the manufacturing processes. They were guided and supported with this by the PI Ceramic instructors Doreen Hädrich and David Weißflog.
Following a short evaluation of both days and lunch together, the apprentices started their journey home.
A warm thanks to everybody who helped with the organization!
