Head-of-positions "Systems" Division

Launch of "Systems" Division

April 22, 2024

On April 1, 2024, the new “Systems” division was launched. In addition to parts of some former DPG support functions, the “Systems” division is primarily made up of the value streams “Industrial & Engineered Systems” (VS IES) and “After Sales.” of the DPG. The previous Head of VS IES, Dr. Markus Blust, will lead the “Systems” division on an interim basis.

The “Systems” division is organized into the following departments:

  • Value Stream “Systems EMEA” (former “VS IES” of the DPG)
  • Systems Architecture & Project Management, Order Management / Processing
  • Product Management
  • After Sales EMEA
  • Quality Assurance

Pending the final appointment of the heads of the respective departments, Dr. Markus Blust will also assume these positions on an interim basis. The “After Sales EMEA” department will continue to be headed by Torben Becker.

“Our customers are increasingly asking for solutions with a higher level of integration, including the application software required for multi-axis movements with controllers, drives, and software, even on stable granite base plates—and the corresponding service. The aim of the “Systems” division is to provide just such solutions. This makes it a key pillar of our organization.”

Dr. Axel Widenhorn, Director Operations

The “Systems” division forms the basis for the planned growth with system solutions. By integrating the two value streams “IES” and “After Sales” of the DPG into one division, we are pursuing our clear focus on meeting our customers' requirements in the systems business as well. “Industrial customers in particular generally expect 24/7 system functionality with professional maintenance and short response times in the event of unplanned downtime,” explains Dr. Markus Blust. It goes without saying that the after-sales department of the “Systems” division will continue to provide service for PI's entire product portfolio.

By systems, we mean more complex structures that integrate several axes and possibly different drives. Typical examples are the F-712 fiber alignment systems for the Photonics market segment, consisting of hexapods and nanocubes. More complex positioning systems on granite base plates for laser material processing or inspection applications also fall under the „Systems“ category.
