New Set Up of the Corporate Advanced Research Department from January 1, 2023
From January 1, 2023, within the Global Research & Platforms division headed by our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Dr. Markus Czanta, the previous Corporate Advanced Research department will be realigned. The aim is to drive forward the development of future technologies more strongly, and to also step up global scouting activities within the PI Group.
In this context, the Corporate Advanced Research department will be renamed ‘Global Innovation & Scouting’. On an interim basis, Dr. Steffen Schreiber, Director Advanced Development – Global, will head this department, which reports directly to the CTO. The recruiting process to fill the vacancy is already underway.
The Global Innovation & Scouting department consists of the three groups:
- A) New Technologies
- B) Technology Scouting & Networking
- C) Big Data Analytics for Technology Scouting (currently being set up)
A) The New Technologies group is the Corporate Advanced Research department with Dr. Steffen Schreiber, Director Advanced Development – Global, as Head of. The group will retain its original structure and purpose, and will primarily deal with developing future technologies within the PI business model, as well as with the necessary scouting activities.
B) The newly established Technology Scouting & Networking group will take care of the global scouting of future trends, technologies, and technical opportunities for our PI portfolio in a targeted way (Business Mode 4 activities). The job of Head of is currently vacant, and will be covered by Dr. Steffen Schreiber on an interim basis. In future, we plan to fill the position of Director Global Innovation & Scouting as a dual function together with the job of Head of. The Technology Scouting & Networking group will integrate the results from the scouting activities from our already established technologies, carried out by the Technology Centers, with those from the new regional scouting, as well as from ACS.
For this purpose, we are very pleased that we could gain Scott Jordan as technology scout for the Americas, and Phong Dinh as technology scout for ACS. We wish you both a warm welcome to our team. C) In future, the Big Data Analytics for Technology Scouting group (still being set up) intends to use state-of-the-art big data tools and analytics to systematically identify new technologies and research results in the area of patents, literature, and technology networks.
