Dear Colleagues,

I would like to inform you that in the past few weeks we have decided to newly realign PI Innovation.

We have been receiving very positive feedback from the market about the fact that we, as a medium-sized enterprise, have a future-oriented unit in place. Due to the many overlapping task areas of PI Innovation and the PI Group in our collaboration to date, we want to create the basis for a more refined assignment profile of each organization with a clear focus on responsibilities.

In this context, we have made the following essential decisions for the realignment of PI Innovation:

PI Innovation's focus lies in innovation scouting

The organization will be streamlined and aligned more clearly on the business purpose of innovation scouting. For me, the idea to create a pure innovation unit that is not embedded within the operational business is an essential building block of the PI strategy and something heartfelt. The adjustment of the strategy, which has now been decided, will invigorate the idea behind it.

Shortly, I will withdraw as Managing Director of PI Innovation. In addition to Lucius Amelung, Erik Keune, currently employed in Corporate Development, will be appointed Managing Director. Erik Keune has dealt with the implementation of special projects initiated by me in an exceptional manner. His visionary mindset as well as his strong innovation ability have impressed me again and again in our collaboration.

In the future, PI Innovation will only report to the CEO.

The lease agreement for the offices in Freiburg, Germany, will not be renewed; PI Innovation will be using offices at PI for their meetings and workshops.

We will keep you informed about further developments. I wish all participants an energetic and successful start!

Best regards

Markus Spanner

Chief Executive Officer
