PI Teamwork and Spirit Impresses Visitors
This year, for the first time since the break due to COVID 19, the LASER World of PHOTONICS in Munich was again held in its regular cycle, and was fully attended by international participants. More than 1,300 exhibitors showed the innovative and fast-growing nature of the photonics market.
The planning for our trade fair appearance already started in October 2022. Well aware of our delivery problems, Management decided to send positive, future-oriented signals to the market with this appearance. The LASER trade fair was the kickoff event for our new trade fair and communication concept that will position us more clearly as PI Group on a global scale.
With a completely new look and in a new hall next to the Trumpf trade fair stand, we presented PI in a modern and innovative way on a stand with almost three hundred square meters. As well as applications with a focus on sustainable business for 2024 and the years to follow, for the first time, the stand included a bar area with catering, so that we could meet our customers in a relaxed atmosphere.
The new PI innovation campaign “DRIVING INNOVATION” was the central element of our trade fair appearance, with content from the Global Research & Platforms division (more information on this soon). On the stand's central stage, as so-called “innovation talks”, developers presented PI's future-oriented innovative topics such as “Magnetic Levitation” or “Modular Control Platform”, and actively invited the audience to discuss the topics and their possible applications together with them.
It was a great trade fair for PI and our team. With 535 potential contacts of excellent quality, we were able to break our previous record in leads. We could send an extremely clear, innovative signal with our appearance, which has had a consistently positive response from existing and potential customers, as well as market partners. This was incredibly good for my team and all colleagues present at the stand. Of course, we also had critical conversations with our customers, however, in a constructive and, with the help of our new innovation topics, forward-looking manner. The interaction of the marketing team with our research team and with all colleagues from Germany and abroad, was terrific and I would like to explicitly thank them for their courage and commitment. Together, we must take advantage of this team spirit and the resulting positive “DRIVE” for the second half of the year.
With our new trade fair and communication concept, we are addressing our existing and potential customers worldwide with a focus on OEM, i.e., scalable volume business. This does not mean that we will continue to build up our high order backlog from 2023, but that we are targeting new business for 2024 and subsequent years, and at the same time, are aiming to better position ourselves still in 2023. In the coming weeks, we will be presenting the great new research topics, which we are immensely proud of, internally at PI. They deeply impressed the visitors to our trade show stand - this should give us positive tailwind for the tasks that now lie ahead. A big thank you to the team of Markus Greis for the wonderful cooperation. Additionally, I would like to thank our research team for presenting the future topics at our stand. This “spirit” has inspired us in Management. Of course, there were critical but also fair talks with customers. Overall, we all made an absolutely strong impression together!
