PIC Part of Saphir Group Sponsorship Project With Development of Lead-Free Actuator Materials

On August 1, 2022 the group sponsorship project Saphir started in which PI Ceramic is participating. This is a project from the Tridelta Campus Hermsdorf network, of which PIC is the biggest member, within the "RUBIN" (Regional Entrepreneurial Alliances for Innovation) sponsorship program.
The main aim of the group project is to make the region of Hermsdorf into the leading European center for high-performance ceramics. For this reason, all of the relevant ceramic manufacturers from the region are amongst the 18 partners. For example, PI Ceramic, Eberpächer, QSIL, H.C. Starck, as well as Tridelta Weichferrite and Tridelta Hartferrite.
For PIC, the sponsorship will provide the framework for the development of lead-free materials over the next few years. During the project, we will be supported by Fraunhofer IKTS and the Ernst Abbe university in Jena. For PIC, the project’s volume will be 850,000 euros. The region of Hermsdorf will benefit from a sponsorship of 12.7 million euros. The total financial volume including own contributions amounts to 17.8 million euros.
During the application phase, the alliance competed against others to gain a sponsorship from the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. From the total of 53 alliances that applied, in the end only eleven were selected.
