Prof. Clive Randall Visits PI Ceramic and Provides Technical Support
At the end of March, we at PI Ceramic were very pleased to welcome Clive A. Randall, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and the Director of the “Materials Research Institute” at the Pennsylvania State University (USA), to our company.
Randall visited PI Ceramic during the course of a workshop. Our experts from the Components and Multilayer divisions as well as the Central Development were able to describe current problems to him and to discuss them with him on a technical level. The focus was on the following topics: failure of high-strain actuators, phenomena of polarization in high-temperature materials, and property changes during heat treatments of lead-free ceramics.
Between 1997 and 2013, Randall was Director for the Center for Dielectric Studies and in 2013 he co-founded the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics, for which he still serves as Technical Advisor. In 1983, Randall received a B.Sc. with Honors in Physics from the University of East Anglia and in 1987 a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the University of Essex. He has authored/co-authored over 4490 technical papers, with over 30,000 citations. He also holds 26 patents in the field of electroceramics. Randall is thus a world-renowned expert in the field of ferroelectrics.
Therefore, we were very pleased that we had the opportunity to have a professional discussion with such an expert! During this discussion, we learned innovative approaches to solving problems and would like to thank him for his suggestions!
