Construction of New Building With 6,000 Square Meters of Additional Space

As part of PI’s 'Maximum On-Time Delivery’ initiative, our site in Eschbach will be extended considerably. Plans are ready for a new building with approx. 6,000 sqm additional space for production, laboratory, and office workspace. This will almost double the current plant area in Eschbach and there will be up to 150 additional jobs. Additionally, the cleanroom capacity will also be increased to better meet future customer requirements.

The combination of hiring new employees, more space, and the introduction of Industry 4.0 principles should triple capacity at the Eschbach site. A total of approx. 16 million euros is being invested. HARSCH, the construction company from Bretten, has supported PI with its building plans for many years; from planning to implementation, and is again responsible for carrying out the construction work. The start of construction is planned for the beginning of 2023, with completion in 2024.

Application of Industry 4.0 Principles

The expansion in Eschbach will increasingly focus on the application of Industry 4.0 principles for more flexibility and higher throughput. In this context, we are using assistance systems to support the highly varied assembly of customer-specific products, or automated transport systems, which optimize the material flow in assembly with the aid of software.

Significantly Reduced Carbon Footprint

During planning, the most up-to-date environmental aspects were considered. The Eschbach site will be connected to the environmentally-friendly district heating network. Together with the use of sustainable building materials and insulation, this fulfills the highest environmental requirements. Additionally, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the new building to create renewable electricity.
