First 100 Days Review with Waldemar Ungefug, Director Finance - Global

July 21, 2022

On March 1, 2022, Waldemar Ungefug started as Director Finance - Global in Florian Geistdörfer`s COO department

Waldemar, how did you experience PI in your first 100 days?

The onboarding was fantastic! Starting with the communication before I started, to being greeted at reception, the instructions from HR, the talk with my manager, and the training plan from the team. I experienced a great deal of interest in me as a person, and in my tasks during all the talks with the colleagues from different divisions.

As well as the introduction by my supervisor and direct colleagues, the many talks I had made me realize rather quickly that the company is going through a transformation process. Of course, additionally, we face the challenge of managing the current delays.

My interest in PI as a company, and in PI’s products prior to being hired grew even more during the first 100 days. It is totally fascinating to see in which business sectors we are active, and how each of these sectors shows genuine potential for growth.

What important realizations have you had so far?

Dr. Karl Spanner's quote from the BIG PICTURE 2020 "Make something of it. Everything you need is there!" got me from the start: daily, I see this message as the basis of many interrelated matters in my daily work. However, in my case, this message relates to the responsibility of not only satisfying the respective division, but also the company and the whole group.

Furthermore, I perceive PI as being a company with a great sense of social responsibility, and many chances of shaping things.

Where are your priorities during the implementation?

My current priorities are the sustainable development and implementation of a new internal price logic within the PI Group. Derived from this, we need to rethink the tax-related aspects, develop the necessary guidelines in Financing, and make sure to adhere to them.

What motivates you personally?

I try to shape my contribution through work so that it creates the greatest added value for the whole group. That is why I am very interested in what the colleagues in my teams, and in other divisions do, and what motivates them. What gives me the greatest long-term pleasure is when colleagues make progress with their activities, and have the chance to learn and develop themselves.
