In the presence of several guests of honor including representatives of the state of Massachusetts and the town of Shrewsbury, MA. as well as our CEO Markus Spanner and the two managing directors of PI USA, Walter Silvesky and Matt Reck, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of PI USA was held on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024.

The building, construction of which has now begun, will offer a usable space of around 120,000 square feet. This is roughly three times the space of the current production sites of PI USA in Auburn, MA, Hopkinton, MA, and Nashua, NH, taken together.

For years, industry leaders have claimed that manufacturing in the US is no longer viable. It makes me very proud to be part of a company that says: 'Yes, we can—we can build world-class products right in the center of Massachusetts!’. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partner GFI and all the community leaders who are helping us make Shrewsbury our new home.

Matt Reck, Managing Director Operational - USA

Completion is planned for 2025. In addition to the production of precision motion and automation systems, linear and rotary axes with air bearings, piezoelectric transducers, and nanopositioning components, the new building will also be used to drive forward the development of innovative technologies.

We are rapidly increasing our presence in the US. As the PI Group, we have the potential to achieve $ 800 million in global business by the end of the decade. PI’s US subsidiary and the new factory in Shrewsbury will be crucial to accomplishing our ambitious growth plans.

Markus Spanner, Chief Executive Officer

The expansion is expected to create a considerable number of high-quality jobs in the region.

Over the next year, PI’s new facility will develop into a hub of activity and a symbol of what can be achieved, when new partnerships with industry pioneers are formed. We are very excited to welcome the pioneers of tomorrow to this new site.
